Born in Germany, Hilde Wilms had her first contact with the art world during a long stay in the south of France. She studied painting and sculpture and then left her profession as a bank employee to devote herself exclusively to her artistic work.
"My works reflect internalized images, unconscious impressions that I collect in nature or everyday life. I paint to restore atmospheres. When I start a work, I don’t know the outcome and I let myself be guided by my inspiration. When the motive expressed is fully revealed, I continue in the direction given.
In addition to acrylic paints and pure pigments, I use various materials such as sand, fabric and paper. I often superimpose several layers of color, which I then interrupt with drawings or graphic elements." Hilde Wilms
