Using infinitely meticulous working methods, Olivier Carpent produces portraits of famous figures, anonymous faces and animals, beautifully proving that art combines easily with the street.

Creativity driven by inspiration

Even as a child Olivier Carpent was drawn to torn posters on walls and the graffiti adorning the barricades of construction sites. He has long been inspired by the work of photographers like Vivian Maier and Robert Doisneau, and more recently Lee Jeffries and Eamon Doyle because of their human connection.

When it comes to street art, he finds kinship in the works of Hendrik Beikirch, aka ECB. In the world of stencil graffiti, he has been guided by artists like C215 and Jef Aerosol. Drawn by the potential of being able to express his feelings through art, Olivier Carpent began exploring the creative world with stencils and spray cans.

When art and street become one

For over two years now Olivier Carpent has produced artworks on a variety of media, from wood to metal, cardboard and canvas. His stencils require a large amount of careful reflection, as the level of detailed work needed to produce and cut the moulds (one for each shade of colour) is extremely time-consuming. This makes the result all the more impressive, as each layer of paint is gradually added using spray paint.
