Saint Paul Cathedral and Millennium Bridge, London.

"When I started this painting, I saw the opposition between the religious and the profane; between the ancient world of a cathedral and the recent world of the Millennium Bridge; between reality and the cinema set. But when I painted this cathedral and this bridge, I saw something stronger: these white arms of the bridge seem to welcome the passers-by and lead them to the cathedral. And in these times of health crisis, of fear, of death, I saw in it a sign of closeness and protection. By force of religion. The sky is bright blue, the paint is smooth as protection; the cathedral is bathed in light as a sign of a protective God, the buildings at the foot of the bridge are anchored in reality with their bright colours and their somewhat ugly architecture: we are in the reality of everyday life. The humans who walk towards the cathedral are bathed in a white veil: they are not a real entity. This painting is both protective (the blue and white shades), the arms of the bridge opening up to the passers-by and nostalgic (the black shadows of the humans)."

Confirmed Artist Confirmed Artist

Valérie Le Meur is a figurative painter from Ile-de-France. Her universe is inspired by the city. Her urban landscapes are colorful, often warm with a use of bright colors and a powerful artistic touch.

She chooses acrylic as the medium that suits her best because she works in quick strokes, in successive layers, she is impatient and this technique allows her to give her painting a speed, a raw aspect, sometimes violent: she is in the emergency of the moment.

Valérie Le Meur's paintings are representations of contemporary, urban reality that she transforms to obtain a particular atmosphere. Often bittersweet, warm but sometimes nostalgic.

Since 2016, she exhibits in France and England: Salon d'Automne de Paris (2019-2020); in Giverny, Versailles, Paris, London...

Her paintings are bought by international private collectors, between Berlin and London, Singapore and Dallas and are in the public collection of Gif-sur-Yvette. Valérie Le Meur is also represented by the "Paul Stewart Gallery" in Paris.
