Born in Havana in 1965, Diane Garcès de Marcilla was 4 years old when she arrived in France. Passionate about painting since her early childhood, in search of wonder she never stops expressing her art. Demanding and curious by nature, she likes to renew herself, her painting progresses at the rhythm of her explorations.
Finding another reality; that of the painted work, from the surrounding reality, is a motivation for each painting. In her compositions where the body is present, the environment is absent, because only her inner world counts. The impregnation of his sensations is sufficient in his landscapes or architectures for the human figure to be absent. She explores the relationship between the visible and the invisible, the perennial and the ephemeral through the use of a fluid and transparent material that she generously superimposes.
"Painting is my homeland, the place, the moment when I wake up, reveals me fully. "A small nod to Marguerite Yourcenar, in "Les Mémoires d'Hadrien" she writes: "The true place of birth is the one where one has taken an intelligent look at oneself for the first time. My first homelands were books. " - Diane Garcès de Marcilla
