André Baldet is a painter-illustrator-graphics-posters-posters-comics artist and a frequent traveller. In parallel to his commissions for images for communication or publishing, he leads a global and original artistic project, "Caravan", which brings together the works that the world and its extraordinary diversity inspire him. Unlike the painter-travellers who work on the motif, he does not work directly on the spot, contenting himself with field surveys: taking notes and views, making quick sketches and gathering signs that accompany the reading of writers who have taken the same paths. The creative work is done upon return, in the neutrality of the workshop. He makes the journey again, reinvents it and reinterprets it in complete freedom, relying on his expertise in the image business.
Considering that each journey is unique and has its own language of shapes and colours, it applies to a permanent stylistic renewal, leaving the terrain, the places visited, to influence and guide its pictorial writing. It is the plurality of expressions that makes this project unique. The variety of the original proposals is therefore very great, but the effect of coherence dominates with a luminous palette and an impression of lightness, tranquility and cheerfulness that bathes the essential part of the work. The idea of pleasure feeds the creative process.
