This imaginative painting, at the limit of abstraction, is inspired by the landscapes around Stephanie's house/studio. The Loire, the Dormouse, the peaceful lakes... Stéphanie de Malherbe's painting is characterized by superimpositions and contrasts of colors. She likes to make the tones vibrate by using complementary colours, influenced by the Nabis and the cheerfulness and strength that can be seen in Mexico and Andalusia where she lived. Her canvases are often first covered with a luminous colour, sometimes up to the fluo. This gives a luminosity and depth to her paintings.

Individual and collective exhibitions in France, Mexico, Spain, Belgium and Switzerland. About 200 portrait commissions.
Since I was a child I need to create, draw and paint. Most of the time I start from something observed, sometimes imagined to transform it into emotion. To create puts into action, transforms routine into a unique moment, sadness into hope. Each completed painting is "a birth, a death and a resurrection". I paint to shout out the beauty, the wonder perceived through an embrace, a face, a landscape, a situation, shouting that life is worth living, even with all its misunderstandings, sometimes its suffering, and that there is a positive reason beyond all circumstances. I think that art is not an end in itself, but the reflection of the ineffable.
