In Laurent PRUDOT's work, the often sensual imperfection of the graphic act reveals to us the nature, irremediably material, of this "optical" art, whose lines and stains are at the limit of the "viewable". In question the idea of repetition, the object of series, versions of a theme from which for the moment we would have to deal with some sort of comparison tables through a definition of the systematic trait. Alternatively, the representation is formally current. We could also refer to elements of an architecture without walls, free of space, from a musical score without notes to melodic lines in a seemingly well constructed singer/visual field. What we feel in Laurent Prudot is the process of exploring possible variations, surface states between whites, blacks and/or colour. And, with a great economy of means, to play on the intensities between the strength of the colors and the white of the support. His painting has become tension, movement in power, i.e. dynamism. If her work is no longer told, it owes it to the importance of rhythm, to this rhythm of forms in space, to this division of space by forms. Here the colour is not only surface but also line. It is this line, this task - not drawn - that makes the colour vibrate. He totally eliminates the drawing on the canvas, not by juxtaposing coloured masses, but by pushing it to the very limits of the painting. These limits that become the cut, the shape, the drawing of pure and frank color, often reduced then to monochrome flat bars, hung somewhere on the surface of a wall.
