It was during her studies at the School of Fine Arts in Mulhouse that Eva Gohier discovered colour. Graduated in 1989, she teaches drawing, painting and plastic arts while pursuing her profession as a painter. Between figuration and abstraction, she translates an atmosphere, a climate, the essence of a subject, the latter being only a pretext for creation.
"I like that not everything is grasped at first sight, I try to raise doubts about what really exists, thus making the painting alive. For me, art is a language and I use it to express myself philosophically, humanly and emotionally. In parallel, with my work as a painter, I organize courses and workshops in oil and watercolor painting. The contact and exchange with the participants forces me to take more distance from the subject and nourishes my vision of painting.
Landscapes of land and water, chiaroscuro streets, everyday objects, pretexts for the creation of shapes and colours. Flat tints as well as rigorous and very assertive geometries contrast with the extreme fluidity of the blues, greens, ochres.... A total mastery of the gesture and techniques to better release an overwhelming spontaneity."
