The sources of inspiration for this painting are two quotations. The first is a quote from Guy de Maupassant, taken from his work "L'inutile Beauté", published in 1890: "The more civilized, intelligent, refined we are, the more we must overcome and tame the animal instinct. "The second quotation is the famous sentence of the philosopher Thomas Hobbes, from his work The Leviathan, published in 1651: "In the state of nature, man is a wolf to man. "According to him, the state of nature is the worst of all because man is the worst enemy of his fellow man. The only solution for Hobbes was for everyone to make a social contract with each other... You will also find a nod to the famous painting "Riding With The Death" painted by Jean-Michel Basquiat in 1988.
