Sabine Rusch was born in Hilversum, the Netherlands. She has lived and worked in Senlis since 1999. As a child, her paternal grandmother gave her a first series of photos of her forebears and ancestors and when she died, many other old family photos of her ancestors. She kept them carefully in a box in the hope that one day she would put them under a frame and hang them together on a wall. Sabine Rusch has always been passionate about existence and our origins.

"Where do we come from? Why were we born under such heavens, in such a place and at such a time rather than another? I still do not have to date, answer these questions that come to my mind.... I let myself be inspired by these old photos and try to transmit in my painting, the image of the generations that preceded us. This is in order not to forget our roots, but also to keep a record of the existence of our ancestors for future generations." Sabine Rusch
