Based on the painting styles of the Madonnas of the past, the artist takes up an old subject with a new rendering.

She is inspired by a quote from the conceptual artist Bill Viola which she believes perfectly reflects her thinking of Mary as a universal female figure present in almost all spiritual and religious traditions. She maintains an infinite capacity to absorb and relieve the pain and suffering of all who come to her. She is the personification of the feminine principle linked to the ideas of creativity procreation inner strength love and compassion. As a mother, she is a timeless icon that transcends everyday life. As an earthly Mary, she is a seeker, a traveler who takes her place in a vast natural world on a difficult journey that gives her strength and compassion.

Spanish artist Marina Del Pozo introduces us to colourful portraits and landscapes with a variety of inspirations…a real invitation to travel!

A passionate portrait artist

Painting is a central part of Marina Del Pozo’s life. She has developed a variety of different techniques, from sumi-e lessons in Japan to the use of watercolour, acrylic or pastel. She draws her inspiration from her favourite artists as a way to pay them tribute.

Asia as a source of inspiration

Although she was born in Madrid and has lived there all her life, Marina Del Pozo also loves travelling, discovering new inspirations. This was notably the case when she spent six months in Japan on a trip which led her to develop a strong affinity with Asian art, a key turning point in her career.
