Mikha - Black, white and red seascape. This painting is painted on a canvas of 40x40cm. For more than ten years the paintings of this collection in black, white and red have been successful. There is an interesting anecdote to tell about this theme: one day, about ten years ago, the image of a painting like this one, with the three colours black, white and red, came to the mind of the painter, clearly. The painting is organized in strong geometrical structures, based on the golden ratio. The black and red solids are created with liquid paints while the white is applied with pure gesso in order to create interesting structures on the canvas and textural contrasts with the other colours. The stylized sailboats are also created with black and white gesso. It is a knife painting with acrylic colours, gesso and lacquer. The painting is varnished.

ST RAPHAEL (83), France

95 works

Born in Paris, I learned from artists such as Bengt Lindström and André Marfaing. I then followed a career as a computer engineer before taking up painting again in 2004. I live and work in Saint-Raphaël (Var). Painting is my only source of income.
The maritime world, botany, the cosmos are interests that I work a lot in my painting. I use, superimpose and mix colours and textures of all kinds, according to my inspiration.
I structure my paintings in a rather strict way while letting myself be carried away by the effects of materials that give each time a different tone.
I work with all kinds of paints, liquid or pasty, opaque or translucent, always trying new products, which means that my style is constantly evolving, to my great pleasure and that of those who follow me.
