Marcel Baugier

Having for medium painting, Marcel Baugier composes his paintings of abstract shapes and colors. Between formal and colorful contrasts, it creates movement, confronting various elements which generally do not cohabite together.
Towards an abstract art
Born in 1946, Marcel Baugier lives and now works Barjols in Provence. He followed higher studies of plastic arts in Paris and was a certified plastic arts teacher for 40 years. Since the 1980s, his work has gradually become abstract. In addition, he made many exhibitions in France and abroad.
"The Matisse of Abstraction"
Marcel Baugier is constantly looking for new harmonies of colors and combinations of shapes.
The criticism of Jean Vautrin, writer and having received the Goncourt prize, describes his work: "Marcel Baugier painted with carnal colors; he mixes the land of Provence with the demands of construction, he is architect of his thought and chromatically emotional and this A learned mixture of rigor and sensuality are the basis of its know-how. It is a bit of a mastisse of abstraction.
His ripening, palpable over the years, inevitably leads him to continue to explore the wasteland of his repeated experiences. Always in motion, his palette seeks to rest but he, like a toy gardener, tries new sowing, traces new frames, idealizes other ways and the spectacle of his new advances always mobilizes me so much. I like the friend and I’m not going to discover the painter. "
