The birth of a love always begins with the meeting of TWO beings. Alina(lalala) could not miss this feeling in her series on DUALITY: AB!ME. Love, that pleasant feeling, which can become our worst nightmare in a snap of the fingers. Love and hate are feelings that are both very far apart, but at the same time very close. We can sometimes observe, however sadly, the reversal of past love into deep hatred towards the one who once shared our life. When we were 20 years old, we didn't see love like that: fickle. Blame it on the fairy tales of our childhood ("They lived happily ever after...") ... certainly because this is the kind of truth that is not told but discovered by oneself: One can love and then unlove...

But when you think about it and take some distance, in life, it's all a question of point of view and prism ... Why not stop crying because it's over, but try to smile because it happened? We were lucky enough to live and feel these emotions, and even if there is an end, it doesn't take away from the love experienced. YOU is part of the AB!ME series For the AB!ME series, alina(lalala) wanted to explore duality in the most pure and direct way possible. She worked on this series, like an impalpable feeling that would become one...

And to express this impalpable and direct notion, abstraction was an obvious choice; by working around the symbolism of shapes and colours, she kept the very "esSense" of the concept of duality. Her abstract paintings not only take up the codes of the great American abstract painters of the 1950s and 60s, which she interprets freely, but she also integrates, as is often the case in her works, the Japanese aesthetic concept of wabi-sabi, which highlights the beauty of imperfect things. This abstract idealization of beauty, where everything is imperfect, incomplete and atypical, where "being prevails over appearance" is the real impact of her work and allows us to see the essential.

Alina Schiau, named after her artist alina (lalala), was born in Romania, that of Ceausescu... Her parents decided to flee her, so that their daughter would grow up in a free country. For Alina, it all began during her studies at the Geneva School of Applied Arts where she emerged first from her class, confirming her belief that she is gifted for creation.

Between graphic design and painting, between History and stories; his daughter, his life, love, music, the great masters of yesterday and today, nature, duality... The list knows no end, it even grows longer by the day...

The messages that can be perceived through his works are often coded and become a labyrinth of puzzles, a puzzle that needs to be deciphered (or not). As when you listen to a song in a foreign language, you don't understand it, but it speaks to you and touches you in its own way. And as a game, as a secret, as another story that adds to that of the work, legend has it that on each of her paintings, her daughter comes to put her name on it: "Lili".
