Acrylic on canvas - Dimensions : 44,8x60,5 cm - Model : Calypso.
This painting, full of adventures, tells us the legend of Ulysses and Calypso, dressed in a red tunic: This abstract work, narrating the tragic epic of our two mythological heroes, mixes harmony of colors and island landscapes, where fauna and flora intermingle with the glitter of the imagination, where our dreams grow. Alas, here ended the fantastic adventure between Calypso, nymph with beautiful curls, and Ulysses, valiant strategist. Seven years of happiness during which the earth and the sky collided to testify to Calypso's transitory love. One winter day, accompanied by her nymphs, the Queen of Ogygia was forced to let her lover go with all the colours of the island, as well as her joy...
Without her colourful gardens, the island became paler and paler, until it became completely white, an expression of Calypso's immense sorrow... From that day on, time was as if reversed: The majestic wings of the butterflies curled up again into protective cocoons, the rainbow faded into a rain like the tears of the inconsolable beauty... The Egyptian nymphs, shortly after the adventurer's departure, tried to bring back the colours... Little by little, the diaphanous dahlias, synonymous with the forsaken lover, became glowing with passion... Giving life to this oasis, the faded carnations turned into carthamus, dazzling orange, full of joy of living. Thus, the nymphs brought comfort to their Queen.
Accompanied by a procession of greenery, completing the unification of the landscape and liveliness, the fuchsias wanted to emerge from the ground and the rhododendrons to take on their soft pink colours... From then on, the arrival of the swallow brought healing to Calypso... (Jannet-Alwaan J.S. et Venissia T.L. - 2021)
