Hélène Vac is an artist from Bordeaux, born in 1985 who lives and works in Le Bouscat (33). Having grown up with a passion for drawing and Plastic Arts, she graduated from the ESA Paris in 2008, she embraces the family tradition, practicing with enthusiasm the profession of Architect between Paris and Bordeaux. The birth of her children inspired her to create a series of portraits and animal drawings in ink and gouache. Settled in Le Bouscat since 2015, she then works with her husband, the landscape designer Renan Rousselot, and trains in the art of gardening, carrying out landscape projects in the Bordeaux vineyards. This activity, intimately linked to life, landscape and ecology, stimulated a new sensitivity in her artistic production and led her to change her medium.
"My will is to get up every day, impatient to contemplate the world more closely, to be on the lookout, to capture in the ordinary of the days and in the folds of the daily life fragments of reality, to seize them and then to work to prolong them in a form, a color, a material. It is a struggle with a piece of light that is both arduous and exhilarating. On the support, canvas or paper, this fight is played out, mirror of the spirit. Little by little, the emptiness is heckled, fills with space: the colour applied with the brush moves there, thick or transparent, lively and vibrant, seeking depth, movement and lightness in a rigorous composition. This duality between the reasoned composition and the movement of the brushstroke animates me throughout the work. Drawn to a few bright colours, one will undoubtedly recognise a tree, a place, a face, a body or a path, and also, almost always, the obsession of the relationship to space in a form of organised or wild nature."
