The artist NOVA offers an apparent simplicity. Simple yet mysterious, banal yet poetic, familiar yet unfathomable settings. The artist composes in this series of works images with a process of simplification. In fact, the works are always very bare, and include few elements that are decorative or ornamental. The art of nOva appears as an art of subtraction. NOVA's work can be defined as a silent theater. Each of his paintings is a staging, silence is perceptible in each of his works.
Figurative painting can transcend reality through its realism, and bring a notion other than descriptive, otherwise his work becomes a kind of story edge - illustration. The abstract painting as for it can have erased the suggestive elements of the reality, without losing foot for all that, without forgetting the concern of the real and its experiment. In both cases, we can even say that the border is a space of freedom: that of creation. The painting is not in the choice of a figurative or abstract camp.
On the theoretical level, NOVA practices this abstraction in the ethymological sense of the term. By a composition which generates meaning without referring directly to the concrete first of all. Then, by an idealization of the forms and the features which allow the representation of a subject. By that the subject is no longer a simple object, but a story, a pictorial speech. Painting is for her a language in the strict sense, which is not satisfied to seek the trace of the world such as it is offered to our eyes.
