Catherine Maddens was born in 1965 in Normandy. Her youth was marked by the Impressionists, an artistic movement much appreciated by her father, an amateur painter and sculptor, who passed on to her his love of painting. She lives in Paris. She has a degree in clinical psychology and initially thought of becoming an art therapist. She trained in Paris in graphic design and practiced this profession for 28 years, 16 of which were spent as a freelance artist at the Maison des Artistes. Her vocation as an artist, present since her adolescence, remains very present in her, and she paints when her work allows it. She realizes her dream from 2013, dedicating herself exclusively to Art. To share her love for abstract art, from 2012 to 2018, she gave monthly group painting classes to adults, to help them reconnect with their desire to create and the pleasure of painting. THE ESSENCE OF HER ARTISTIC APPROACH Catherine Maddens experiments with different formats and materials to create transcendent, joyful and vivid colored abstract spaces. She has always been passionate about the essence of Color. Abstraction Couleurs She has chosen to invest herself in contemporary abstract painting to give free rein to her powerful creative energy. She is always in search of this absolute freedom. She explores infinite creative experiments to surpass herself. She is passionate about modified states of consciousness, meditation, creative and healing processes. She channels this source energy to express the transcendent movements of Life and its potentialities, and embarks the audience in a sensitive and spiritual experience. She is interested in the notions of the quantum universe, shamanism, Nature, and the place of Women in our societies. Her inspirations : John M.
