GRAFFMATT is a painter based in Chambéry. His passion for painting was revealed through his passion for Street Art and Hip-Hop culture. Fascinated by artists and their achievements, Graffmatt takes to the streets to produce, in situ, numerous photographic reports. He then uses his photographs as sources of inspiration, without trying to reproduce the exact copy. On the contrary, by means of acrylic paint, Posca markers, spray cans and brushes, the artist breaks down the images to reassemble them according to his own interpretation.
A great fan of cardboard, the painter likes the flexibility of his format - which he can adapt according to his desires - as well as the inscriptions stamped on it - graphic basis for the composition of his backgrounds. Figurative and expressive, his works are executed in two stages, which the artist describes as follows: "first the dynamic elaboration of an abstract/graffiti background and then a more detailed and calm work, contrasting then with the background".
Needing to immerse himself completely in his universe, Graffmatt accompanies his pictorial work with listening to urban music. The choice of musical style will be reflected in his works, with some sounds encouraging him to use dark shades, while others will push him towards bright colours.
