Typical Dutch winter landscape with people skating on natural ice.
The materials used: paper, acrylic, pencil, glue, varnish.
"I did this work in the winter of 2014/2015, because it seemed to be an appropriate time of year. Personally, I really like the winter season. Maybe because I was born in January. I assemble original photographs, matching papers, acrylics, oil, charcoal, ink and a pencil in my works.
The variety of resources I can use has proven to be indispensable to me. Having always loved the appearance of patinated walls, coated with flaked paint and old posters, I bring this aesthetic back to life with a lively and professional look. The creative objective of my work is to "do something beautiful by squandering".
My paintings explore the dissonance between old and new materials, intertwined in the most beautiful way possible to create dreamlike and melancholic images." - db
