Born in Hyères in May 1969, Florence Levy lives and works in the south of France. Colors, materials, smells, art and curiosities have rocked her childhood... A seamstress mother, a father passionate about art and antiques (Napoleonic period) and a home like an Ali Baba's cave, have nourished her imagination.
His childhood offered him a rich and permanent abundance while developing his taste for research and experimentation. His quest for life is rooted in his childhood, scented by vacations in a small fisherman's cottage in La Madrague near Giens or in Ajaccio. Roots and travels that have led him to develop an openness to the world.
"I pursue and develop my own pictorial tracks by alternating times of artistic residence and study trips in France and abroad. These moments of creation, rich in sharing and exchange with the apprentice students, alternate with times of solitude in my studio where, like an alchemist, I search for color. The one that will give birth to the form that I unfold to build a puzzle with infinitely multi-faceted.
The color is fundamental in my work! It is constructive and I question it as a subject in its own right. Investing in authentic places, contemplating the landscapes that surround me and finding myself painting outside free of any confining space, on the beach, in nature, bathed in light as a reference material, is also part of my creative process."
