Painted with epoxy resin on an oval canvas.

"Epoxy is used on boat hulls and surfboards. I colour the resin with coloured pigments. Its appearance is very bright, a bit like an enamel. I work with very fine toothpicks and brushes to create these cosmic patterns! I imagine new galaxies, with shimmering colours. But the most important thing for me is that you have your own representations, that your emotions are released by looking at this painting and that it brings you pleasure!" - Léa Valmain

The most humble of materials, paper, has always fascinated Léa Valmain. It sometimes bears curious names, varies in thickness, velvety, format, colour... The full and empty, the shadow and light that play with the notions of presence and absence are the other artistic interests of this artist. Using a surgical scalpel, she gently cuts the paper in its thickness, creates a movement, makes lines, curves gush out without (almost!) ever piercing the sheet. She sculpts directly, without prior drawing, just guided by the emotion of a moment. The pattern that appears then is not fixed.

Gently approach to make the light dance and create moving shadows... Take a small step aside and everything changes... Then another and another. At every glance, a new work! While admiring in the Toulouse sky, the ballet of starlings who also create changing paintings in a few moments, she wanted to give the name "Murmurations" to these engraved papers.
