Title: The cat was staring at the elusive black-headed gull on its headland. The young shepherd boy played an ancient flute tune, the sea answered him, undulating its warm Turkish blues like a Roman mosaic.

From figurativism to bordering on abstraction, it’s hard to put a label on François Pagé’s style of painting.

A poetic painter

Born in 1962 in Tours, France, where he currently lives, François Pagé creates works that well and truly explode with color. His creations are inspired by poetic texts that the artist writes himself.

Indeed, his works tell a story, help illustrate the artist’s lyrical words with great subtlety, whose titles seem to be plucked straight from his poetry books.

Pretexts of his poems’ illustrations, the works of Pagé cover a wide spectrum of manners and styles, which sometimes seem inspired by impressionism, fauvism or even abstraction.

A renowned artist

François Pagé’s creations can be found in numerous public collections including: the town of Batz sur Mer, Saint Avertin, Saint-Ouen-Marchefroy, Cabourg, Monnaie Loches, the museum of l’Isle Adam, County council of Indre et Loire, along with various private collections abroad, including : Australia, Austria, Germany, Algeria, England, Belgium, Canada, South Korea, China, Spain, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Morocco, Malaysia, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland, Singapour, Taïwan and the United States.
