Characteristic work of the artist, the work "Fauve" is a mixture of neo-expressionist symbols and calligraphic characters borrowed from different alphabets, applied with pigment ink on an acrylic background for a contrasting result. The search for the symbol without necessarily symbolism in the heavy sense. Pop pictograms, invented Japanese characters, hidden messages, entirely dedicated to free interpretation. The subject is created instinctively, with the sole aim of not drifting towards graphic automatisms. This results in forms that can easily be appropriated, so familiar do they seem.

A multidisciplinary artist at the crossroads of street art and calligraphy, Woo is based in Bordeaux (France), where he regularly exhibits his work.

Brutality of the graffiti, softness of the art of calligraphy but also Cyrillic alphabet or hieroglyphics... Woo plays with symbols, without always having a symbolic impact. Inspired since childhood by the graphic universe of Keith Haring - the artist exhibited for the first time outside the American walls at the CAPC in Bordeaux - or Nikki de Saint Phalle, Woo's production is characterized by a technique mixing acrylic paint, pigmentary inks, Posca, gilding. His preferred media are paper or canvas. Large or small formats according to your desires.

Woo advocates an instinctive art. However, some of his works deal with contemporary societal themes that the eye in its wandering will be able to identify by the symbol. His pseudonym evokes both his Asian roots and his experience in Hong Kong. Within the group Le Comptoir and aboard its flagship, the Bibo restaurant, where Woo drowns in the works of Banksy, Murakami, Arsham, Ron English, Jonone, Basquiat, Invader, Hirst, Kaws, Shepard Fairey, André, JR and many others. This initiatory journey culminates in the Art Basel Hong Kong exhibitions, an absolute concentration of creativity and inspiration.

Woo is a jack-of-all-trades. Music, furniture design - in particular in collaboration with New Yorker Karim Rashid -, interior design... He has been working in Bordeaux since 2005.

Spread over two months, a first exhibition noticed at the beginning of this year in Bordeaux in the Galerie Bordelaise, presented by the artist with a warm welcome from the public, amateur or not, touched by his work.
