Children inspire me. Their ability to transcend any given rotten situation is amazing. Playing tag in the ruins of a bombed Syrian city. Playing football in the most miserable neighborhoods. They're always looking for the light. They will save the future that our generations have really ruined, without even blaming us. If only we could keep the kid in us a little longer, we wouldn't be in such a mess. Art can help us regain our childlike innocence.
All my works are inspired by patinated walls with posters, chipped paint and all kinds of things in decline. I try to create something new, something beautiful with these elements. This specific artwork is part of the Collages series. These collages are built with all kinds of pictures, photos and images that I have collected over the years.
I assemble original photographs, assorted papers, acrylic, oil, charcoal, ink and pencil into my works. I have always appreciated the appearance of patinated walls covered with peeling paint and old posters, and I revisit this aesthetic with, hopefully, a sharp and professional eye.
