Isabelle Courtois Lacoste

Isabelle Courtois Lacoste is a multidisciplinary artist working for several years on the landscape. Well beyond a simple representation of nature, being interested today in the landscape is to be made in a way archaeologist of human history which emerges in the form of traces in the proven nature, place of memory and resilience. From his childhood spent near Verdun, Isabelle Courtois Lacoste feels the landscape as a universal vector of our relationship to the sensitive, revealing a tension, between absence and presence, visible and invisible.
Coming from a family where artistic expression is naturally encouraged, she learns the basics of drawing from her childhood with a mother artist and teacher of plastic arts. A graduate of the Fine Arts of Versailles, ink is one of its favorite mediums, in particular through the monotype technique which it sometimes associates with acrylic painting in the form of collages. These mixed techniques allow him to explore the contrasts of lights by juxtapositions of colored papers and others in black and white.
It also develops a practice of painting on canvas playing with the liquidity of the acrylic medium, bringing out imaginary landscapes, sometimes enigmatic, by successions of overlays and erasure. Whatever the medium used, its practice begins with an abstract approach, giving way to gesture, intuition and chance. The liquidity of ink or painting, or the use of the imprint reveals the random, new starting point towards the dream and the imaginary.
Signs appear in the recomposed fragments, giving meaning to the composition. Constantly looking for new plastic experiments, she regularly participates in artist residences in France or abroad.
