TOMADEE

Tomadee (1979) is a French artist. His work is irrigated by his many areas of knowledge, which he takes advantage of to better play. From illustration to animation, from typographical creation to painting, from collage to lacerations, Thomas explores the possibilities and tells unique, oniric, and destructured stories.
What characterizes his work is the use he makes of newspapers, leaflets and posters, selected worldwide according to his trips and experiences. He graffiti, painted, tears, glues and picked up these accumulated images before bringing out shapes, silhouettes, symbols. He recreates an unparalleled microcosm each time, and each canvas details as much as she seduces by the journey to which she invites. The multiple icons that arise and sometimes intermingle chaos, or they establish a new order.

His works give the impression of a benevolent familiarity as much as they disturb because they invite you to look at the world with the quirky gaze that is that of Thomas. Like her "Alice Is Dead", for example, the main character of which is none other than the Alice of Lewis Caroll passed to the Decadence filter.
Previously creative in the world of advertising, for which he has carried out several successful campaigns, Tomadee uses his codes: he diverts them, questions them, and finally questions his spectator: what is the place of myth in the face of real?
His work is rich in various influences: the musical and cinematographic culture of the 70s, the collective imagination ... Everything becomes a creative engine! As for the artists, he is inspired by Drew Struzan, Mimmo Rotella, Raymond Hains, Chuck Close, Andrew Salgado ... But also those he had the chance to meet or rub shoulders with: Jeff aerosol Mr Brainwash, Peter Tunney and Jacques Villeglé .

In 2017, he set up his workshop in Paris in the premises of the Galerie Deux6 (Paris 7th).

The other large part of his work is also the street and the walls ... Sometimes it is official like the large 200m2 fresco painted in Dax as part of the "Muralis" Streetart Festival. Other times, it is less official, when he prints or grafted his work in the streets in order to create ephemeral works, urban fables in cities of cities. Paris, Miami, New York, Barcelona, Berlin, Madrid ...
