For once, Octopus was stenciled on a 1995 road sign. Real nightmares for learner drivers but indispensable on the road, road signs are an integral part of our daily life. Who would have thought that a banal traffic sign could have a second use and moreover, be fun. As a general rule: traffic signs are installed to dictate some sort of instructions or actions to be followed. Jinks transforms speed bumps, hitchhiking or one-way traffic with humour, which makes us smile again in traffic jams. Jinks, has been practicing the art of traffic sign hijacking for almost 15 years. He has already made more than 1000 signs in 28 countries including Vietnam, Morocco, Burkina Faso, Jordan, Iraq... At the bend of a street, you may come across one of his creations. (geolocalized map available on www.jinkskunst.com) To realize his diversions, Jinks cuts by hand adhesives of several colors that he superimposes to create the desired visual. For a few years now, Jinks has been offering replicas of his misappropriations to individuals. On Kazoart, you will be able to discover a large panel of his creations on real new, reformed and sometimes very old road signs going back to 1963.

Jinks Kunst, born in Switzerland in 1976, is a self-taught multidisciplinary visual artist. He hijacks traffic signs, makes realistic paintings using stencils and plays with pixels by creating portraits with legos, cigarette filters or beer capsules.

He is lulled into art by his grandfather, an art ceramist (best in France), poet and inventor. At the end of the 1980s, rap music and culture punctuated his life. He is then challenged by the visual of Mode2 in the skateboard magazine NoWay, then by the cover of the album "Chromatique", of the Swiss group Sens Unik, signed by Lazoo of the MAC collective.

He starts sketching graffiti lettering. Since the beginning of the 2000s, Jinks participates in exhibitions and events in France and abroad (Switzerland, Italy, England, Cambodia, Benin, Senegal, Nepal, United States...). His works are present in several private collections, and published in a dozen international books.

Jinks Kunst travels in order to share and transmit his artistic technique and thus develop the social link around a participative project.
