Uraraka Matsuzawa

Uraraka Matsuzawa was born in Chiba in Japan in 1979. Graduated from the University of Fine Arts in Tama (Tokyo), she settled in France in Lyon in 2011.
She uses the millennial techniques of Nihon-Ga painting and renews this traditional art by the abstraction of Western painting. Uraraka brings with materials that she uses from Japan: Washi paper that she herself tends on a plywood, Iwaenogu painting made from natural pigments from crushed semi-precious stones (Cinnabar, Malchite, Azurite, Jade, Obsidian, Lapis Lazuli ...) mixed by hand with a glue of animal skins called Nikawa prepared hot and a little water. It paints on the ground, without easel, the composition of the paint not allowing it to be applied vertically.
