Intuitive methods discovered through experience: Trained in Asian arts, Muriel Besnard focuses on the use of the breath, on the intensity of presence and on the commitment of the body necessary for the liberation of the gesture. The use of the spirit breath and the act of painting become inseparable.
The hand takes power: Attach itself to posture, to anchoring to the ground, to the links between the movements of the breath and the full-and-looseness of body language. Thus arises an alchemical relation to matter. The spirit of the Tao leaves its mark and each painting is experienced as an initiatory journey.
Living according to the Spirit of the Valley: This consists of embracing the moving flow of reality to better evoke the telluric energy of Shan Shui (litt. Mountains & Waters). A completed work gives a concrete appearance to this contemplative state which can only be achieved and shared through art and poetry.
With one intention but without a goal: To throw oneself on the sheet like one throws oneself in the water. The project develops as the process progresses. From the creative dialogue will be born the work, line after line, key after key, to compose a harmonic Whole which will be more than the sum of its parts.
Muriel Besnard's landscape creations speak of the evanescence of things: Veil and reveal, bring out and blend. Vaporous distances open onto the immensity, thus freeing up breathing spaces. The perspective is atmospheric, the points of view are multiple to evoke this nature of which we are only an expression. It is about exploring its innumerable potentialities and its fluid and fluid forms.
