"The Zero and the Infinite" lets us glimpse debris, traces, shreds that are the expression of diffuse perceptions, in bits and pieces, on different planes at the same time. Covered in vermilion red to better see this moment of absolute power, on the one hand, and simultaneously, although in opposition, a moment of total vulnerability on the other. The two often go hand in hand, omnipotence paradoxically blinding. The eye cannot fix itself, it is this walk through the visible and the invisible that makes the moment.

130 x 97, Acrylic, Indian ink, Gouache, Chalk on linen canvas. Signature and year of realization on the back. Sold with a certificate of authenticity.

To make the complexity of perception tangible.

To travel beyond appearances, that is what modern painting has set itself. A painter chooses his plane of perception and develops it by amplifying it.

Solen Floch tries to revisit the question of the perception of the lived moment. He believes that the moment always offers, at the moment of its capture, in a diffuse manner, in bits and pieces, several planes of perception: exterior/interior, memories/presentations/projections, ideas/feelings...

From then on, the pictorial object created by Solen Floch consists in making these multiple planes of perception tangible and confronting the spectator with the extreme complexity of reality, its strangeness, up to, perhaps, a metaphysical feeling of the existing.

From this point of view, because it is a fixed and moving place, a place of solitude and crowds, of emptiness and fullness, the city singularly excites these multiple planes of perception. In this sense, Solen Floch's painting is urban. But not only. It does not stop at the surface of walls and shop windows because the moment is not an advertising image, smooth and explicit. It claims to offer the gaze the unspeakable of life.

Solen Floch's painting, if it wants to be a metaphysics of the palimpsest, of the debris, of the shred, is not however desperate. Being part of a dynamic and optimistic movement, she constantly unfolds to be reborn and rebuild from these nothings!
