Self-taught painter born in 1987 in Limoges (87), Sêma Lao experiments since her childhood and with fervor various techniques such as acrylic, dry and oil pastel, and digital drawing later.
She quickly devoted herself to a personal expression, on canvas and paper and exhibited around the Limousin. Thanks to encounters in the hip hop and graffiti scene in Limoges, she has been painting murals with spray cans since 2011, the wall becomes her playground.
Now settled in Corrèze, she multiplies projects and meetings, in France and abroad, between canvas and walls.
Mixture of figurative and abstract, her works generally represent animals or portraits, states of mind; faces with sincere and spontaneous expressions that the artist tries to retransmit through a palette of saturated colors. She works on transparency and movement with superimposed effects that she achieves with spray paint.
On canvas, the inks come to set a creative base, markers, an underlying contrast and pronounced drips, only to be veiled by the bright and luminous colours of the spray paint. The relief is there, the last touches with acrylics and brushes finally clarify the details.
The artist tries to seize this raw and spontaneous sensitivity of the being, human or animal, which transpires through a look, a gesture, a posture..., expressing his own impressions and emotions through his creations.
