Human-induced climate change is intensifying the heaviest rainfall. More than 70 percent of the earth's surface is water, and as the world warms, more water evaporates from the oceans, lakes and soils. So when the weather causes heavy showers, there is even more moisture available for heavier downpours, increasing the risk and severity of flooding.
For these little girls, it can still be fun to play in the pouring rain after a long, hot summer day. But what will the future look like for them? What consequences will climate change have for them?
