Sophie Gaiardo is working on several simultaneous projects. His creative research is therefore not linear, but punctuated by breaks, sequences, progressions at variable speeds. She does not complete a project but pursues it tirelessly, sometimes taking paths, sometimes dead ends, sometimes openings to other possibilities, other fields of research.
Make one with the Universe
There are many inspirations that punctuate Sophie Gaiardo's work. Cosmos, apnea, ocean; the domains which mix the infinity of space, with the depth of the abyss. All these atoms which form a whole in the universe and from which we cannot escape, making each of us one with the Universe.
The landscapes which simultaneously evoke the mountain and the sea, the sky and the ocean. Nature, the aquatic element, crazy gardens, wise gardens. The untidy nature, the goldfish ponds. Work with a knife that sculpts the material, the reflections of water. The vibrant plant, never frozen, at the whim of the slightest wind. Imaginary landscapes, all in transparency, successions of glazes, very nuanced tones of blues, greens and spotted with red, orange tree, quinachridone pink, to represent the blooming of exuberant flowers.
A spiritual imprint
In addition, there is the horizon, the sea, inspired by the Arcachon basin, the ocean. From the west coast of France. And then the fascination for infinite space, the photographs of Hubble, the big bang, the stars that are born and die in formidable explosions / implosions, the cosmological beauty, the mystery of the grandiose infinity.
His need to externalize his emotions, without verbalizing, without saying too much, from his daydreams or observations. This line which tends to become more and more abstract. Sophie Gaiardo tries to subtly touch the figurative: like a dream that blurs when you wake up, which fades, transforms, and idealizes the very idea of the dream, giving it back its emotional strength.
"Even if dead ends may seem like a waste of time, and if, at the moment I feel the failure, they nevertheless nourish the progress of my projects, the ripening of my creativity, close doors to open new ones. other."
A reconnection with the essential
"All the sensations that Sophie Gaiardo draws from her walks by the ocean and in the remarkable gardens end in imaginary landscapes that we sometimes like to recognize as the emotion passes easily from the canvas to the viewer. in these games of light and colors, a plenitude sets in, forcing the viewer to a sweet reverie, which is inexorably invaded by a deep inner peace.
By letting time do his work on his impressions, the artist traces on his canvases memories borrowed from such a sensitivity that we readily believe ourselves transported to the water's edge, near a tree, on the beach. ... where beauty reconnects us with who really matters. And it's magic! ”Gabrielle Gauthier, editor-in-chief, in Artistes Arts magazine n ° 3 June 2018.
