Marie-Astrid GRIVET was born in Paris in 1969. She obtained a master’s degree in management from the University of Paris-Dauphine in 199, then attended the Ecole d’Arts Plastiques Martenot, from which she graduated in 2010. She divides her time between artistic education and her own creation
and has been a member of the "Société des Artistes Français" since 2017.
Marie-Astrid GRIVET’s artistic approach tends above all towards the search for a harmonious composition between figuration and abstraction. His inspiration comes from the representation of spaces and objects with their interplay of vertical and horizontal lines, curves, solids and voids. Her work is divided into several stages: first, she makes many sketches with charcoal or pencil. They allow, starting from realistic elements, to gradually seek the composition around rhythms, lines and values. In a second step, and once the composition has been defined in its broad outlines, it is transcribed on paper in Chinese ink. This technique is gestural, rhythmic and dynamic. With a brush or bamboo, she reinforces the composition, highlights contrasts and brings light. Finally, she approaches the work of colour on canvas, making several passages in order to find the right harmony and the right material. Brushes, knives, pigments... colour enriches the essential search for lines and rhythms, softness and energy.
