Franck Oscamou trained at the Beaux-Arts in Aix en Provence. He then explores abstract painting and the large format. He discovers the emotional charge of painting without identification, the tension of colors and gesture, the relationship between body and space.
Abstraction seems to him to be the freest mode of expression, one that is determined without constraints, the only limit being the physical framework of the support.
Ultimately, he understands that even if abstract art is not figurative, it represents something, a charged trace of his gestures and his breathing. From then on, it seemed essential to him to explore figuration.
Back in his native Pyrenees, his field of research is no longer the representation of emotion alone but also what is at play in figurative painting.
At that moment the questions linked to the representation of things never left him: How to ask questions? How to find an echo with his contemporaries at a time when the body is overexposed? How to associate painted trace and drawing?
