View from my studio on the Monts du Velay, Auvergne.

Speed is essential in my work. My works are painted "alla prima", the time of a single working session allowing me to seize the fleeting effects of light. The speed of execution gives spontaneity and vivacity to my touch.

I prepare my canvases myself in order to obtain the specific texture I need to paint and to ensure them a better longevity.

Anne Baudequin's brushes explore tirelessly, like a walk that changes every day with the light, the weather and the seasons. Each of her paintings represents the moment in which the unexpected beauty of light transforms a familiar landscape and calls for its contemplation.

A walk that changes with the seasons

Anne Baudequin lives and works in Auvergne in the centre of France. From her studio overlooking the mountains, she paints the majestic, volcano-sculpted landscape every day.

Each landscape is painted "alla prima" in a single session. This enables her to really grasp the atmosphere, and the fleeting, passing effects of the sunlight. She paints quickly with energetic, spontaneous strokes that give her paintings a sensation of movement.

Peace and contemplation in natural light

Through the moments that she captures, Anne Baudequin hopes to transmit the unchanging and timeless nature of these landscapes. Despite being a landscape artist, she frequently returns to the intimacy of still life. The peaceful nature of the relationship it creates with the subject feeds her concentration. She paints still lifes with natural lighting that glorifies the simplest objects, projecting subtle shadows in which she finds a multitude of colours.

The artist’s work on light is sophisticated and meticulous, bringing out the beauty of the Auvergne mountains as they are lit up by the different seasons and weather. The landscape and its valleys become personalities in their own right, brought to life in blues, pinks and bright whites.
