Armel Jullien

Born in 1971 in Courtalain in Eure-et-Loir, Armel Jullien is a self-taught painter residing today in Haute-Loire. From 1989 to 1992, he took courses at the Brassart graphic art school in Tours where he obtained a diploma of an advertising executive. Very early on, painting became his main center of interest, even if he devoted himself to watercolor from 1990 to 1994. Between 1993 and 1996, Armel Jullien works enormously drawing from nature and frequently went to the Louvre to admire , observe, discover, meet the works of the masters, and more precisely those of the painters of the Middle Ages at the Baroque. If he does not take any painting lessons, he contains in him a huge desire to "do them". It is during this period that oil painting is essential and does not leave it anymore ... Armel Jullien looks as much in Dürer, Holbein, Rubens, Velazquez as in Lucian Freud, Eric Fischl, Liu Xiaodong ... others.
Armel Jullien gives all the word to the nature that surrounds it. He highlights a daily life, an environment in which the emotions of those he portraitis are intended for. His canvases borders on photographic rendering despite sometimes recomposed and imaginary scenographies. True ode to nature and beings who inhabit it!
