After a short training in art (Bac Littéraire Art plastique and DEUG Art plastique at the Université Paul Valéry de Montpellier) Emilie Lagarde, fully embraces her career as an artist. She currently lives in Tours and has her studio at the Morinerie de Saint-Pierre des Corps (a former factory that houses artists’ studios).
Emilie Lagarde’s work is based on memory and dreams. The undergrowth and forests, recurring places in her home, are the backdrop for strange strong scenes. Ghostly figures and predatory wild animals are the main protagonists of these paintings, which come to disappear or emerge from these dark places. Emilie Lagarde’s painting is the expression of her memories, questions, fears and dreams. His dark palette, with brown, blue and black tones predominating, spreads over the canvas with an imprecision specific to dreams and myth.
