"The San Josep market is one of my favorite places in Barcelona. Not to buy... although there are many temptations, but to look, hear, feel. And what is beautiful in this market is to imagine the care taken by sellers to present their goods. What is tempting is to imagine the vanity with which everyone sets up their stall so that it is more beautiful, more attractive, than that of their neighbour. I have retained this detail, because it is a detail... the stands are indeed immense, showing their precious fruits and vegetables, skilfully arranged in coloured pyramids. Not a breathing space in the middle of this composition. Everything is tight. We must show as many as possible." - Catherine Gajac

Plastic artist, musician, born into an artistic family, Catherine Gajac has been drawing and painting since childhood. Over the years, his pictorial practice has been enriched by new techniques and references. Photography, silver and then digital, is an essential ally in the creative process.

Nourished by the experience of travel and life "elsewhere", his work essentially develops the theme of landscape, marine, urban or rural, often inhabited.

Catherine Gajac exhibited a lot (watercolours) in the 1980/90s in the southwest of France. Her professional activity (teaching at the University of Toulouse II) then imposed a slowdown in her artistic production until 2011. Since then, she has resumed painting intensely and now wishes to offer her work again for appreciation and criticism.
