"That's right. This place has a great charm. Nestled on the banks of the Arcachon basin, these huts were not so long ago home to the oyster farming activity characteristic of the "basin". I painted them shortly after I saw them. Then the canvas fell asleep for many years, not finished. It was a report on these huts that revived my desire to find them, but to find them as they appeared to me in 1992.

I have finished the work that I now see as a tool of memory. Oyster-farmers' huts are nowadays the sunny days of privileged holidaymakers, painted red, green or blue, as they were not at the time of their first glory, since the pine wood they were built of was protected from the weather by many layers of oil and browns." - Catherine Gajac

Plastic artist, musician, born into an artistic family, Catherine Gajac has been drawing and painting since childhood. Over the years, his pictorial practice has been enriched by new techniques and references. Photography, silver and then digital, is an essential ally in the creative process.

Nourished by the experience of travel and life "elsewhere", his work essentially develops the theme of landscape, marine, urban or rural, often inhabited.

Catherine Gajac exhibited a lot (watercolours) in the 1980/90s in the southwest of France. Her professional activity (teaching at the University of Toulouse II) then imposed a slowdown in her artistic production until 2011. Since then, she has resumed painting intensely and now wishes to offer her work again for appreciation and criticism.
