"Closed doors, muted colors. Nothing happens, or at least nothing explicit. Some men and women stare at us, taking us to task, others ignore us or are totally foreign to us because of a very tight frame.
I wanted to create a series of paintings that do not easily reveal themselves to the viewer, so that he or she can have a role to play in this staging where a feeling of anxiety prevails. Images that could have been extracted from a film while depriving us of key scenes; a puzzle with missing pieces that would cause some discomfort." - Marta Grassi
