The famous view of the Côte Sainte-Catherine offers an exceptional panoramic view of the city. A shower has just passed through the city, the sun reappears and brings monuments and buildings back to life. This large format was made in the workshop based on studies carried out on the motif.

Illustrator at the start of his artistic career, Olivier Desvaux defines himself today as a painter. It was Morocco that inspired him for the first time and it was from this trip that he began to translate atmospheres and colors onto the canvas by soaking up the atmosphere of a landscape, like a modern impressionist.

From illustration to painting

Born on May 12, 1982, Olivier Desvaux studied in Paris at the Estienne school, in the field of Applied Arts, then moved to the National School of Decorative Arts from which he graduated in 2006.

Illustrator at first, it was during a trip to Morocco, in 2009, that he decided to devote himself more to nature and scenes of life. On this occasion, he produced oil paintings on order from Jacques Garcia to decorate the Baldaquin Suite at the Mamounia in Marrakech.

In 2011, he was selected to propose a painted decoration project for the apse, the nave and the arcades of the Sainte Marie Majeure church (listed as a historic monument) in Bonifacio.

An impressionist heritage at the service of contemporary subjects

Olivier Desvaux qualifies himself as a contemplative. He appropriates the landscapes that fascinate him in order to translate the atmosphere through the tones and colors used. Touched by impressionists such as Ingres, he is inspired by the technique of the Ancients to combine them with subjects contemporaries.

Member of the Taylor Foundation, Olivier Desvaux was appointed Official Painter of the Navy in 2018.
