Born in 1966, Nathalie Leverger spent her childhood at the port of Le Légué in the Côtes d'Armor. From her father's branch, she inherited a passion for the sea, light, the horizon and the expanses, and on her mother's side the practice of sewing and needles.
Graduated in 1989 from AUDENCIA, a business school in Nantes, she discovered painting in 2000 at random from a box of oils offered to her at Christmas. If the revelation is immediate, it takes him 3 years to question his professional situation within a large distribution group and devote himself exclusively to Art.
Exploring the landscape that surrounds her and that she photographs a lot (especially architecture, objects and materials), she recomposes in her productions the sensations experienced during her travels. It is very often the detail of an object, a material, a smell, or a color that is at the beginning of a study. A prolific artist, she then developed this work in oil paintings, textile or paper volumes, photographs, artist books and object books, installations,... leaving much room for "accidents" and with a certain tendency to motifs and accumulations.
Nathalie Leverger paints, cuts, models, glues, knits and unravels without asking herself the question of the artistic genre. It cultivates its status as a self-taught person to assert its freedom to do, in a rather raw and instinctive materialist approach. His refined oils, his crocheted cotton bowls, his origami installations, compose a poetic universe from which we retain a certain duality around the notions of power and delicacy. It is her poetic vision of the landscape that she seeks to tell us.
It is his meeting in 2011 with Paule Elisabeth Oddéro, poet, that led him to broaden his plastic practice to include paper and then textiles. Working together on themes chosen in common (Birds, Fireflies and Fisheries), she seeks to create works that approach the delicacy of the author's texts.
Since 2006, she has dealt with the themes of the highway (On the Road: photographs and paintings), childhood (The schoolyard: paintings and paper sculptures), motherhood (A bird, A cage: tissue paper and inks), frustration (The apartment: paintings and paper sculptures), intimacy (Fireflies : sculptures and installations in paper and textiles, photographs, inks, artist's books), the quest for happiness (A beautiful Life, Les Nouveaux Amis : paintings, collages), landscape (Pêcheries, Dans la Marge, Les Nouveaux Horizons, Ouessant : paintings, textile sculptures, photographs).
