Christian Raffin was born in 1957, at the foot of the Alps, in Isère. A solitary and taciturn child, he very early developed a passion for art and, more particularly, for drawing. As a teenager, the contingencies of life pushed him to submit his artistic sensibility to technical studies. After obtaining his engineering degree, he moved to Tunisia for two years, where he devoted himself, among other things, to photography. Impregnating himself with freedom and sunshine, he takes his last breath again before letting himself be captured by a life that he already senses will suffocate him. Back home, he made a career for several years in the industry. Despite a daily life at the opposite end of the spectrum from his deep concerns, he never turns from his primary passion: drawing. He sometimes makes brief contacts with him again, always undecided, but sufficient to let this rare flower germinate and eventually bloom.

Influenced by various human and artistic encounters, he finally turned to oil painting. First of all, inspired by different artists, from Van Gogh to De Staël and Dali, he studied shapes and colours, learned to tame his feelings. It captures moments of daily life with a predilection for cities, characters, couples and youth. Her style with its subtle and precise lines is accompanied by bright colours, which gives her paintings a great modernity.

Then quite naturally his sensitivity also turned to sculpture. He shapes his characters who escape from his paintings. He is very attracted by these slender silhouettes. He then uses plaster or cement which he places on an iron frame, prefers to put material rather than remove it, and works with knives. His statues remain in good condition or are painted in acrylic with a protective varnish.

He currently resides in Burgundy, near Sens, where he has his studio and exhibits his work in various places
