Born in February 1955, Dominique Gentreau showed a taste for the Arts at an early age, inventing epics and creating imaginary worlds in which he involved everyone around him well beyond the family circle.
After a childhood filled with fertile imaginations, came the equally turbulent adolescence, more engaged in reality and its existential questions. There is already a need to express oneself in a different, more solitary way through drawing or writing. And it is quite naturally that he follows courses in the visual arts that he abandons after two years, struggling against academism and the rigidity of this teaching.
But the revolt was there, very present, and he went through the 1970s in turmoil against a system that made him lose his bearings. His fragility, his revolt led him into a period of wandering and excess of all kinds, ups and downs, even approaching death until the birth of his son in 1994.
Back to reality, this birth gives him a purpose in life, he invests himself fully in his art. A professional since 2005, he has received several awards for his work and has exhibited in many places around the world. Present in collections in France, Spain, Germany, Japan, Denmark and other countries.
"We know that the human being is a recurring and essential theme for this neo-expressionist artist living in the Landes." - JH Maisonneuve, writer
