"Tondo Pompadour", oil on canvas, 50 cm in diameter. Here is a nod to Rococo and the Louis XV style, ornate, light, elegant, Dionysian. This style draws its inspiration from nature, through the use of floral patterns, foliage, curves and arabesques. The ornamentation is the only pretension of this work flowered with roses on a turquoise green background. The tondo, here a round canvas on a circular stretcher, originated in the Renaissance with portraits painted or sculpted on a round format support. This painting will be delivered with an invoice and a signed certificate of authenticity. The board will be ready to hang, with a piton/cord system on the back. The canvas will be signed on the front and back. Shipment in a neat and traceable packaging.

Fabienne Monestier prefers to evoke nature rather than emulate it. For the most part, she paints from her imagination. Any subject is capable of catching her interest, as everything is a potential source for inspiration and plastic interpretation.

Drawing and painting, art as a driving force

Born into a family of DIY enthusiasts and all-rounders, Fabienne Monestier was encouraged to express her creativity from an early age. As soon as she was able, she picked up a pencil and began doodling, drawing and inventing images.

Later, she studied experimental film and engraving at the Institut d'Arts Visuels d'Orléans, where she was awarded a post-graduate qualification in plastic education for her two short films. She has now returned to her first loves and works as a painter full time.

Fabienne Monestier, technique over subject

The subject comes second in Fabienne Monestier's approach. Her real inspirations are pictorial techniques. Frequently using transparent colours for their rich and deep tones, she works on canvas, wood and paper, in oil watercolours, ink, coloured pencils, acrylic, markers, charcoal, black chalk and using mixed techniques... constantly exploring new avenues!
