This oil on canvas was made in the workshop from sketches, watercolours and oil pochades made on the pattern on the golf of Coulondres in Saint-Gély du Fesc. This oil is part of a series of seven paintings on the same theme done at different seasons. The two watercolours and the oil pochade used as studies for this oil were done early in the morning in June 2015. The oil was then glazed over a period of 4 months.
The main interest of the subject lies in the contrast between the areas illuminated by the sun through the pines and the parts in darkness as well as the shadows cast by the grazing sun. This work is sold framed (American case - see photo) with certificate of authenticity and ready to hang. It can also be sold without the frame. In case of purchase an oil pochade made on the motif as a study for this work is offered.
