This work is part of the series I started after my Parisian experience of 2015, marked by the attacks of 13 November, which turned almost unconsciously towards dark colours, while playing with the tones of black (black-brown, black-blue, black-red, black-grey, etc.). I must also say that I have always been fascinated by black in painting (Vélazquez, Caravaggio, or Soulages and its outrenoirs, etc.) and by black and white in photography, since black is the absolute colour, the colour that absorbs all colours, and can therefore be extremely rich in nuances. In this whole series, even in the middle of the darkest black, there is always a small light on the horizon line. For me, this painting represents the beginning of a new way of seeing life, of conceiving existence. The technique I used is still the same: oil and pure pigments on a wooden table. I work with my hands, without using brushes or knives. The paint is absorbed or rejected by the wood, sometimes in a completely unpredictable way, which makes this process a pleasure. Improvisation, surprise, interaction with materials.
