Chen Xi started painting at the age of 4 in China, his country of birth. His grandfather, a comrade of Mao Ze Dong, was a painter of the Chinese army and influenced him from an early age. In 1994, she studied visual arts at a specialized high school in Zhengzhou, China, and was admitted to the University of Zhongzhou in 1997 in "Visual Arts". She arrived in France in 1999 and obtained a degree from the Beaux-Arts d’Aix-Marseille in 2005. She has been living in France for 18 years now.
Chen Xi works from personal photos taken during his walks and travels. She prefers to deal with certain subjects such as the countryside, urban night, still lifes, but also tries other themes such as portraits, or more abstract compositions.
